WHEREAS,

The New Jersey School Boards Association and the National School Boards
Association have declared January 2005 to be School Boards Recognition
Month, a time that all residents might acknowledge the contributions
made by our local school board members; and |

WHEREAS,
|
The Galloway Township Board
of Education is one of more than 600 local school boards in New Jersey
that sets policies and oversees operations for public school districts;
and |
|
WHEREAS,
|
The Galloway Township Board
of Education embraces the goal of high-quality education for all New
Jersey public school students; and |
|
WHEREAS,
|
New Jersey's local school
boards help determine community goals for the education of more than 1.4
million children in Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade; and |
|
WHEREAS,
|
New Jersey's 4,800 local
school board members, who receive no remuneration for their services,
act as advocates for public school students as they work with
administrators, teachers and parents for the betterment of public
education; and |

WHEREAS,
|
School boards strive to
provide the resources necessary to meet the needs of all students,
including those with special needs; and |
|
WHEREAS,
|
Boards of education provide
accountability to the public; they communicate the needs of the school
district to the public; and they convey to school administrators the
public's expectations for the schools; and |

WHEREAS,
|
New Jersey can take pride in
its schools, which rank among the nation's best in indicators such as
high school graduation rates, class size, college entrance exam
participation, and Advanced Placement offerings and tests scores. Now

board members throughout New Jersey as we join communities state-wide in

Personnel and Evaluation of Personnel
The Superintendent recommends approval of the following resolutions:
- Resolution to accept the letter of intent to retire, with regret, from
Nancy Kreischer, principal at the Pomona and Oceanville Kindergarten
Centers, effective July 1, 2005. Ms. Kreischer began her career in the
Galloway School District as principal of the newly opened all day
kindergarten centers in 2000. Her commitment and dedication to the students
and staff are greatly appreciated by our entire Galloway family.
- Resolution to accept the letter of intent to retire, with regret, from
Jan Wiley, school counselor at the Galloway Township Middle Scho0ol,
effective June 30, 2005. Ms. Wiley has served the students of Galloway for
14 years. Her commitment and dedication are greatly appreciated by our
entire Galloway school family.

January 29, 2005 from 9:00am -
3:30pm for their Pinewood Derby Race
- Boy Scout Pack 76 has requested the
use of the Cologne School cafeteria on Friday evenings beginning January 21,
2005 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm for their meetings.
- Girl Scout Troop #5864 has
requested the use of the Cologne School cafeteria on Wednesday evenings
beginning January 26, 2005 from 6:30 - 8:00pm for their meetings.

- Galloway Township has requested the use of the GTMS cafetorium on
Wednesday, March 23, 2005 and the Smithville cafeteria on Wednesday, May 25,
2005 from 6:30 - 9:00pm for their "Move" meetings, which is a question and
answer public session for residents.
- PAL has requested the use of the
GTMS gymnasium, cafeteria and outside courts on June 27, 2005 through July
1, 2005 from 8:00am to 4:00pm for a fundraiser with the Philadelphia 76ers.
- Informational Items:
- The GFSA sponsored Sixth Grade Dance scheduled and Board approved for
March 18, 2005 has been changed to March 11, 2005. The ticket sales will be
held in the Smithville School lobby on March 8, 9, and 10, 2005 from 4:00pm
to 8:00pm
