Welcome to the Special Education Department!
The Galloway Township Special Education Department strives to meet the individual needs of our students with disabilities throughout each of the six schools within our district! As your Director of Student Services for Special Education, I work side by side with our child study team members/case managers and related service providers to collaborate with our special education teachers and classroom assistants to develop programs throughout each of our schools. From our youngest learners in preschool to our 8th graders who have grown and developed into unique individuals, this work is unique, complex, and rewarding.
As you enter our department, please note that you will be assigned a case manager. This is your first line of communication. Someone that you will collaborate with and who will serve as an advocate for your child. The case managers take this work seriously and intend to have your child’s best interest in the forefront of every decision.
In conjunction with the case manager, you will find your teachers, related service providers, a classroom assistants to be a collaborative team of educators who will come to learn your child well. They will communicate clear information about your child’s progress and do their very best to make you a valued member of your child’s instructional team.
With this foundation, we continue to seek out opportunities to learn and grow. Our most recent initiative with the Rutgers Boggs Center has us learning more about Person Centered Approaches to School and Transitions (PCAST). In addition, we continue to make strides in the areas of curriculum development, social emotional learning, trauma informed practices, and best practices in IEP development.
I hope as families that you will join us for one of our Special Education Parent Advisory Group (SEPAG) meetings to learn more about our ongoing initiatives, to ask questions, and overall engage with other special education families. Please look for reminder emails leading up to the dates! The dates are:
December 5, 2024, 4pm, Reeds Road Library
February 4, 2025, 4pm, Virtual
March 19, 2025, 4pm, Reeds Road Library
It has been an absolute pleasure to serve the special education students and families over the last 10 years. I am truly blessed to be able to engage in this most meaningful work each day. As always, if you ever need to connect with me, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Yours In Education,
Dr. Jennifer R. Pauls
